WARD BASED SIMULATION - DETERIORATING COVID PATIENT (Copy)

This session is a multi-disciplinary simulation aimed at recognising and managing a deteriorating patient with COVID-19 in an acute, in-patient setting. This session is run by the simulation team at St Vincent’s Hospital.

By the end of the session learners will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of prioritising personal safety at all times including donning and doffing of PPE.

  • Review and demonstrate the use of a structured ABCDE assessment

  • Identify signs of clinical deterioration and provide appropriate interventions before progressing further in assessment

  • Recognise the criteria for escalating care and calling for help when caring for a deteriorating SCOVID patient

  • Review variations in BLS provision with respect to the SCOVID patient
